Must have experience scrubbing in for surgical procedures
Must have experience passing instruments during surgical procedures
Must have experience setting up a sterile field
Must have strong verbal and written communication skills
Must have EMR experience
Must have an active BLS
Experience
with removing and placing suture, assisting in suction, and/or holding retractors, etc. all highly preferred
Certified as a Surgical Technician is highly preferred
Surgical knowledge within Plastic Surgery is highly preferred
Duties
Surgical Technician will be responsible for, but not limited to the following:
Performs patient care duties delegated by registered nurse related to patient personal needs, comfort and safety.
Scrubs for surgical procedures and demonstrates competence, while functioning as member of surgical team.
Prepares and maintains supplies, instruments and equipment related to surgical intervention.
Assisting surgical team before, during, and after surgery.
Duties include working competently as a 1st and 2nd scrub
Working with physicians, CRNA’s, registered nurses and other surgical personnel in delivering quality patient care and assuming appropriate responsibilities before, during and after surgery
Arranging surgical equipment and instruments in operating room according to instructions, assisting moving and positioning patients, holding, handing and assisting with instruments during surgery, counting of surgical materials, washing and sterilizing equipment after operations
Central processing of cleaning and sterilizing instruments, assembles supplies and equipment according prescribed procedure
Handle processing and sterilization of instrumentation
Room patients
Take vital signs and patient history
Assist with minor procedures
Administer injections
Patient follow up
Assisting with the day-to-day operations of office
Knowledge of Cosmetic Plastic Surgery procedures, Injectables (Botox, Dysport, Radiesses, Juvederm, Perlane, Restylane), laser treatments (IPL, Fractional CO2, Erbium and laser hair removal), a plus.
Experience
with filling syringes, cleaning instruments, assisting in minor procedures and understanding of sterile technique.
Patient interviewing, conducting a consultation and patient counseling, pre-oping for surgery, pre-op, post-op care.
Post-operative care, including dressing changes, for the gamut of plastic surgery procedures (facial, rhinoplasty, and body procedures).
Administrative duties include inventory control, ordering of medical supplies, flipping and cleaning rooms and stocking rooms.
Knowledge of skin care including facials, peels, microdermabrasion, and ability to interact with estheticians in the same institute for cross referrals (surgery to skin care and vice versa).
